How Bin Store Pricing Works
Most bin stores price everything in a section at one flat rate that resets on restock day and steps down a set amount each day after, until the next restock resets it again, meaning the same item can cost several times more or less depending purely on which day you walk in.
This is different from a normal sale. It's not a discount applied to a marked price; it's the store's entire pricing system for that section, and it applies to everything in the bin regardless of what the item would normally retail for. A phone charger and a coffee maker cost the same amount on the same day.
Why Do Stores Price It This Way?
A flat, decreasing price solves a problem a normal per-item price tag can't: nobody at the store knows what's actually in an unopened pallet, so there's no way to price each item individually as it goes into the bin. A single flat price for the whole section is fast to apply and fast for shoppers to understand, and stepping it down through the week clears out what didn't sell before the next pallet arrives.
What Varies From Store to Store?
The starting price, the size of each day's step-down, and which day of the week is restock day are all decisions each individual store makes on its own, not a shared industry standard. Some stores also carve out a separate, higher flat price for electronics specifically, since a $1 day price on a genuinely valuable item would undersell it too far.
